Performance mods like Lithium and Krypton don’t exist on Forge — they’re Fabric-exclusive — and they’re the reason a Fabric server with hundreds of mods can run as fast as a tight Paper setup.
Hosting Fabric is forgiving. Most Fabric modpacks run comfortably on 6 GB (Gold), and the engine scales linearly. If you’re running Cobblemon (the Pokémon mod) or a Create-on-Fabric pack, the same RAM-per-player rules apply.

Is Fabric or Forge faster on a server?
Fabric, generally — because of the performance mods (Lithium, Krypton) that aren’t available on Forge. For the same hardware, a Fabric server handles more players per GB.
Can I run Forge mods on Fabric?
No — they’re different mod loaders. Some popular Forge mods have been ported to Fabric (Create, JEI), but you can’t mix-and-match.
