Paper server hosting
Paper is the most-used Minecraft server software in the world — a high-performance Spigot fork with deep optimisation, plugin support, and stability that Mojang’s vanilla server can’t match.
Optimised by default
Paper ships with chunk loading, entity, and tick-rate optimisations Mojang’s vanilla server doesn’t. The same plan runs visibly smoother.
Full Spigot/Bukkit plugin support
Anything that runs on Spigot runs on Paper. Use EssentialsX, LuckPerms, WorldEdit, ProtocolLib — the entire plugin ecosystem works.
Geyser cross-play ready
Paper is the engine of choice for Java + Bedrock cross-play servers via GeyserMC. We pre-configure Floodgate so Bedrock players join without an account.
Paper on Citruxhosting
Paper is the de-facto standard for serious Minecraft server hosting. If you’re building anything more ambitious than a vanilla world for two friends — plugins, automation, custom permissions, multi-world setups — Paper is the right choice.
On Citruxhosting, every plan runs Paper out of the box. The Gold plan (6 GB) handles a typical SMP with 10–20 players and a couple dozen plugins comfortably. Larger networks scale to Diamond / Netherite without changing engines.
We expose Paper’s configuration through the panel’s file editor, including paper-global.yml, paper-world-defaults.yml, and the bukkit/spigot configs. Common tweaks like view-distance, simulation-distance and entity activation ranges can be edited live without a restart.

FAQ
Should I use Paper or vanilla Minecraft for my server?
Almost always Paper. It runs the same gameplay but with much better server-side performance and full plugin support. The only reason to use vanilla is if a specific plugin you depend on is incompatible — which is rare.
Is Paper compatible with Forge mods?
No — Paper is a plugin-only server. For Forge mods, use Forge directly (or Mohist for the rare Forge+plugin hybrid).
What’s the difference between Paper and Purpur?
Purpur is a Paper fork with extra gameplay-tweak features (PvP toggles, bedrock breaking, etc.). Both run on Citruxhosting; Purpur is one click away in the Marketplace tab.
Ready to launch your Paper server?
The gold plan ($14.28/mo) is sized for Paper and deploys in about 60 seconds.
